Hey there! So let’s get this show on the road. It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to touch on today, but then it hit me...color!
I know that coming off the harsh winter that we have had, it is so easy to stay within the black/grey/white color realm- so let’s see how we can switch it up. Color is something that you have got to play with. I’m certainly not asking you to dive in and OD on it, because that would take us back to the obnoxious trend of two summers ago- no loud, logo heavy, neon tees with the matching shoes over here! We are just shooting for tasteful splashes of colors from now on.
When thinking of colors that work, jewel tones have been good to us since the beginning of time, and I’m not just talking to the ladies. Interestingly enough, these colors are the same tones that are working for the guys-from emerald polo’s to deep ruby colored denim- they work! For both sexes, the key is to just balance it out, do that ruby colored denim with a grey basic tee, and accessorize that sapphire blue wrap dress with silver or gold, not yellow! Don’t feel compelled to pile color on top of color...in my opinion, it’s a tad much- Punky Brewster was cool in the 80’s.
Ladies, we stay with endless options when its comes to bringing a little light to our lives- from tees to dresses to some banging shoes- our opportunities our endless. If you ever find yourself stuck, think accessories. That yellow leather bag or turquoise ring – is an outfit by itself, so put it to use!
Guys, I know the colored denim is stretch for most- but I just had to paint the picture for you. Here are a few alternatives when it comes to adding a little color...
The key to being stylish, with color, is to be timeless in your approach, keep this in mind when you shop- especially those major purchases. If you buy something now, you should be able to like it, and wear it five years from now. Trendy is what accessories are for, so play with the small items {watches, scarves, vests, hats, sunglasses, etc...}. Have fun, with a little style!
Until next Friday People...
